Description

Seated in the near table are members of the Varsity Football team. Their record was a dismal 4 wins and 5 losses. However the season was saved when Aberdeen beat Hoquiam in the annual Turkey Day game. Seated  in the first row from left to right -Assistant coach Bill O'Brien,  Dick Short, Ray Hajduk, Chuck Copeland (leaning forward), Bill Maynard, Bill Snider (leaning forward), Don Daniels, Jerry Scure, and Mike Silvey. Across from Coach O'Brien from left to right - Head Coach Jalmer "Jelly" Andersen, Raymond "Skip" Russell, unknown, David Jaskar, Grant Sherman, Ken Benedict and Ed Schweitzer. The table to the left honored members of the "B" squad footbal team, all of whom were sophomores. Coaches Al Eklund and Norm "Nookie" Newman are seated 2nd and 3rd respectively at the far left in the picture next to an unknown person to Eklund's right. Standing at the head of the table from left to right are Bob Basich, School Board Secretary Mr. Turk, unknown, Weatherwax High School Principal Ben O. Curran, School Board Chairman Mr. Cramer, the remainder unidentified. Thanks to Grant Sherman for contributing information.
