Inscribed on log : "67 loads". John C. Hughes' "On the Harbor : From Black Friday to Nirvana" notes that Schafer Bros. loggers loaded 67 railroad cars and won a bet with the boss who doubted that they could. Label copy with the 11x14s reads "Labor Day 1923 - On Labor Day 1923 the crew of loggers of the Shaefer Brothers Logging Co. of Montesano, Washington loaded out 67 carloads of logs from the woods - Photographer Bliss B. Jones recorded that historical event. This photographic print was made via the paper negative process from the original 5x7 nitrate negative."
