Description

Image includes Union Pacific freight depot.
Thanks to Sam Talley, who notes: "When we were kids in our parent's car waiting in line at the Harbor Drive-in, we'd always talk about how 'handy' it would be to have one of these lumber carriers. We thought we could straddle the line of cars and go directly to the front!  Talley continues, "The first Hyster lumber carrier or straddle carrier was built by the Willamette Iron and Steel Company in 1924. It was initially known as ‘the Bulldog’ and later called Hyster which was concocted from the phrase ‘heist-it-up' "
