Thanks to Sam Talley, who notes: "The 'landing' was the place where the freshly cut logs were brought so they could be placed in a stream or river, loaded onto rail cars, or in later years, put on log trucks for transport away from the area. Here we see the skids or sleds for two donkey engines at the landing."
