Thanks to Sam Talley, who writes: "Just past the Red Cross Pharmacy on G St. was Nathan Schaffer's barber shop. My grandfather, George Bowen, did not have much hair on his mostly bald head. In the early 1950's Mr. Schaffer only charged 75 cents for a hair cut. Later on I was charged $1. Most shops charged $1.75. You can see the barber pole below the shoe shine sign.”
