Ship is Kashu Maru of Kobe. Sign on timber reads: "This stick contains The Billionth Foot shipped in 1924 - from Grays Harbor, Wash. - by water". Written information in assignment envelope is a photocopy from Aberdeen Daily World Dec. 20, 1924 which reads "The Billionth Foot - Grays Harbor will commemorate tomorrow the shipment of a billion feet of lumber by water from this port. It is a real occasion. It emphasizes the growing importance of the port not only but it also signalizes the great lumber production of this region, a production that will continue both with the opening of the Olympic peninsula, which should be our next endeavor, and the adoption of a proper reforestation policy that will make the timber crop here perpetual." Notation : Series number: 8080-81-82-83-84, includes G1081_1, G1082_1, 8082_1.
