This aerial view by Stan Spiegle shows homes and commercial activity in Tokeland, including the location of the Nelson Crab and Oyster Co. The photographer's notes indicate that this facility was a cannery with the capability to store live crab.
Thanks to Sam Talley who adds: “The cannery was started in 1934 by Herb Nelson. It was the first crab cannery on the West Coast; and has been producing top quality products ever since. It is presently [2009] being run by Kristi Nelson, a third generation family member."
