Description

This aerial view by Stan Spiegle shows the bay at Westhaven, including the abandoned rail line used to construct the South Jetty. The beach has become a popular desination for surfers.
Thanks to Sam Talley who adds: "You do not have to go out on a charter boat to enjoy fishing at Westport. Spear fishing can be enjoyed in Half Moon Bay where cod up to four feet long have been taken. Fishing can be very productive from the South Jetty on the inside (bayside).  Excellent bait is sand shrimp, clam necks, and pile worms if you can get them. When fishing is hot you can catch fish on almost every cast, just get beyond the jetty rocks."
