Lake Panhandle

Description

An aerial view by Stan Spiegle tentatively dated July 1949. Lake Panhandle is in Mason County, approximately 7 miles west-southwest of Shelton.
Thanks to Sam Talley who adds this story about the lake: “In the mid 1950’s when attending YMCA camp at Lost Lake in Mason County, I was in the 6th grade and was 'discovering' girls. A friend and I heard there were a bunch of them at a 4-H camp at Panhandle Lake which was about two miles away through the woods. We sneaked out of camp and headed towards Panhandle with the help of a compass. Upon arriving at the lake we found a whole bunch of girls attending the 4-H Camp. They spotted us, told their counselor, and we were chased away. We sneaked back into Y Camp and never told a soul. What a day!!!"
