Book caption reads : "Ed Lafferty MobilGas Station in Montesano, Washington located at Sylvia and Pioneer Avenue. This photograph was used in an advertisement in the Montesano "Vidette" on November 8, 1941, one month before the Pearl Harbor Day of Infamy."
Thanks to Sam Talley, who writes: "Full service = pump gas, check oil and coolant, clean the windows, and possibly check tire pressure. If you ordered $2 worth of gas they usually pumped a little extra such as $2.10. Here gas was 23 cents/ gallon. In the 1950's there was a gas war where one company tried to sell gas at a lower price than the competitor's. It went down to 11 cents/gallon.”
