Thanks to Sam Talley who notes: "Some time after the bridge was opened, several of us kids walked to the bridge tender's control room to check it out and ask some questions about the relatively new structure. The tender took us down some stairs to a catwalk which led under the bridge. We toured the whole underneath. I have only been there once, but for a kid, it was so exciting."
