Edward Finch, developer of his namesake building and a playground in Aberdeen, as well as Finch Farms south of the Chehalis River, had experienced poverty, been a state senator, a millionaire, and a philanthropist.
Thanks to Sam Talley, who writes: "To the left of the main entrance to the Finch Building was Gin Hops Chinese Medicine Shop. He would mix Chinese herbs and who knows what to make healing potions. My wife's father, Edwin Peterson of Hoquiam, went to him for many ailments and swore by their effectiveness. In today's modern medicines many are made from old Chinese concoctions. After the Finch Building was closed the Chinese Medicine sign found its way to "Bronco' Tesia's Liberty Tavern in South Aberdeen as a wall decoration.”
