Written information in the assignment envelope reads : "Grays Harbor Light and Fog Horn Station, photo circa 1915 - One of the most impressive structures of LIghthouse architecture is the Grays Harbor LIght at Westport. It stands 107 feet in height from the base to the lantern. The design was accepted by the engineers office in 1896. The cornerstone was laid in 1897, and the structure complered in 1898. The steam fog horn station was just west of the lighthouse, and had two giant boilers to operate the Bown Automatic Siren. This structure was destroyed by fire in 1916."
