Immediately after the bridge was completed, Jim Wells Logging was contracted by Aloha Lumber Co. to remove the Sitka spruce and hemlock logs lying in the highway right-of-way and haul them to market. Jim continued to work as a third "gypo" side on the Taholah Unit for several years. Thanks to Dick Sterling for contributing information.
