Description

Thanks to Susan Baxter Wells, who wrote this about the store in the photo:  "I grew up in Central Park and my brother and I used to ride our bikes up to the gas station/store to buy penny candy.  In the summers, our parents would let us ride our bikes across the highway (2 lanes at that time) and go swim at the Park Motel's pool.  For 25 cents  you could swim all day.  We'd buy a bag of candy and a bottle of pop, put them in our bike baskets and then ride up to the Motel.  This is a very good memory of life in a simpler time."
The Darigold truck appears to be a 1967 or 1968 Chevrolet delivery van. Thanks to Alan Richrod

for this additional information. See also photo # 15387_1 for another picture of this building, taken in 1938.
