It took pilot Al Berthold just 40 minutes to fly the first Grays Harbor air mail from Seattle to Bowerman Airfield in Hoquiam. Receiving the mailbag from Aberdeen Postmaster George D. Magee is Mrs. D. W. Fleet. Mrs. Fleet's son started the first government airmail in 1918. To her left is Elma Postmaster Finley Downs.
