Thanks to Sam Talley, who notes: "There were several public water fountains in town. My family was always instructed by the elders NOT to drink from them for sanitation reasons. The water ran continously. Sometimes men would spit their 'plug tobacco' or 'snoose tobacco' into them prior to drinking. The fountains were present through the 1960's."
