Plaque commemorates "Old 45" the locomotive : " Built in 1906 for the Polson Logging Co. by the Baldwin Locomotive Works, this 45 ton prairie type engine served for over 50 years in the forests surrounding this site. Presented to the people of Hoquiam on Sept. 20, 1961 by Rayonier Incorporated. The 45 stands here, in silent tribute to the men and machines of the Glory Days of logging in Grays Harbor County."
Thanks to an anonymous commentator who notes that the park was named by Brian Fletcher, the winner of a contest for students at Lincoln Grade School.
