Thanks to Steve Leeson who adds: "I remember my Grandfather telling me they drilled oil at "Oil City" which was around the North Beach area somewhere. They did find oil and the wells were capped."
Ted Tanner adds: “This was on what we called Sampson Road, the road thru the dunes from Ocean City to what became the Ocean Shores Marina. My cousin grew up in a cabin located just a stone’s throw from this ‘gas’ well."
