Aerial view of Aberdeen with KBKW Radio airplane with station broadcast tower visible below front wheel. Note: Date on film is 4/2/1959. Radio station KBKW was founded by Ben K. Weatherwax.
Thanks to Lee H. Thomasson, who adds: "I worked for KBKW in 1959 when the manager Mahlon Taft and Ralph Burgess bought the 1956 Cessna 172. I was a flying reporter with Ralph at the controls. This was a fun time in my life for a 19 year old rock and roll DJ and news reporter. I did a report from the cockpit when a private plane flew in General Jimmy Doolittle to fish at Westport with Bob Bush. The radio drained the battery and Ralph Burgess hand propped the plane with me at the controls. Needless to say, I was very nervous but with Ralph's help, we got it taxied back to the hanger."
