The woman in this photo is Sylvia Karjalainen a graduate of Weatherwax High School. She is receiving a $300 scholarship award for third place in the Elks National Foundation essay contest. The essay topic was "What My American Citizenship Means to Me". She became Sylvia Heikkila and later Sylvia Costello. She died in 2000.
