This aerial view by Stan Spiegle shows the Aberdeen Plywood Co. mill located on the chehalis River at the foot of South Alder St. The 1952 Polk's Directory lists "Carl A. Schafer Pres, Vernon A. Nyman V-Pres-Genl Mgr, Emmett G Lenihane Sec, (Seattle) Fred H MacCready Treas, Tel 4080" . An advertisement in the Polk's Buyer's Guide states: "As modern as tomorrow's newspaper is our completely new efficiently-planned factory now turning out quality Douglas Fir plywood in all standard types and grades. Each week finds architects, builders and consumers finding new uses for this magic lumber that is splitproof, mar-resistant, strong and rigid. To save time and money in construction and for beautiful modern effects, demand XTERIOR APCO PLYWOOD."
