Thanks also to Sam Talley, who contributes an alternate identification: "This actually depicts the steamboat RANGER which operated out of Hoquiam and hauled freight up the Chehalis river and along the coast to places like Oyehut, North Beach, Pt. Chehalis, Copalis, etc. It is sometimes confused with the tug boat RANGER which was built much later."
